Why create a custom lipstick?

I created Dawes Custom Cosmetics as an experience, not just a premium luxury lipstick collection. I was also fed up of wasting time and money searching for the perfect shade and texture of lipstick and lip gloss for me that was safe and wouldn’t dry my lips out or leaving makeup artists and then not having the right shade to touch it up later.

I've always loved luxury cosmetic brands but struggled to find any that were cruelty-free back in 2017 when I started thinking about creating my own makeup line. Or I'd find a new favorite color and the brand would discontinue it! Which meant starting the hunt for my perfect lipstick color all over again. 

If you bring your favorite discontinued shade to us, we’ll try our best to color match it. We can't promise an exact match but we'll work darn hard to get it as close as possible and one that you'll love.

What is a custom lipstick experience?

d visit our Las Vegas lipstick lab for a unique and memorable experience where you'll have the lab all to yourselves! I love doing things that

 are different with my friends and experiencing new things together.

Start by letting us pour you a drink while you decide what music you want us to play. Play with the scent and flavor bar to create your own custom combination. You can be as creative or conservative as you like; from vanilla to mint choc chip or pink champagne and rose.

We'll then help you select the finish you want from our choices of lipsticks and lip glosses before starting the custom color creation with your guidance to get it exactly how you want it.

The process for making different colors starts by you deciding what color you’re leaning toward e.g. pink, red, orange, nude, how dark or light you want it, and whether you want any frost/shimmer or a metallic, matte, cremé finish, etc. 

We can help you if you'd like, by analyzing your coloring (warm, cool, neutral) before we start blending for you. We’ll keep asking you questions throughout the entire process and have you sample it as we go, to get it just right.

Finally you'll get to name it! The lipstick or gloss will be ready for you to take with you at the end of your appointment and we'll save your formula online for quick and easy reordering whenever you're ready to wherever you are in the World.

A custom lipstick isn't just about adding to your lipstick collection. It's about the whole experience and creating memories here in Las Vegas with the benefit of walking away with the perfect color for you.

Should I wear Warm, neutral or cool tones?

Rules are made to be broken, especially in the beauty industry. However, by looking at your coloring, we can make suggestions about which tones we think will be more flattering for you. 

It’s a great starting point for creating your custom color but don’t feel like you have to follow our suggestions! This is about you and what will make you feel your best and your most you!

Are there universally flattering colors?

Yes, but it’s also about personal preference on finish and texture which makes it hard to find a lipstick in any shade that everyone would want

‘Seduction’ red lipstick is our most universally flattering red in Dawes Custom Cosmetics ready-to-wear collection of red lipsticks and glosses. It’s a true cool red, with a hydrating anti-aging formula that's highly pigmented, won't dry your lips out and isn't too orange or pink. The blue undertones will make your teeth look whiter which also make you look younger!

PHOTO: we always wear gloves when creating lipsticks or handling our ingredients but they don’t make for pretty pictures, so this was staged without them.

I spent a lot of time sourcing and experimenting with cruelty free, natural ingredients to be able to create the perfect shades and textures.
